The Pre-Medical program is designed to provide students with the strong foundation needed to handle the rigorous course of study they will experience in the MD program. This course has been designed for high school graduates or college students who seek admission to a medical school and don?t meet the MD program requirements.
Students will complete an intensive three semesters taken over one year to earn the credits and experience needed for their chosen career path. Successful students from our Pre-Medical program may progress into 5-year MD program at our partner university, St. George?s University in Grenada, West Indies.

Qualified graduates of Anderson?s two year Associate?s Degree in Health Sciences are given preferential admission status to St. George?s University
*A 4-year bachelor?s degree is required for students applying to the MD (4-year) program along with the MCAT exam. Students with a 3-year bachelor?s degree are considered on a case by case basis. A two year Associates? Degree does not qualify students for the 4-year MD program Only the 5-year program.
Students who do not have a bachelor?s degree (4 year) degree will only be considered for the pre-clinical programs (5 year, 6 year, and 7 year program) depending on their academic qualifications (High School/College/Some College etc).
The Anderson College 1 year pre-med program qualifies students for SGU?s 5-year MD program (4-year if they have a bachelor?s degree)
What You Will Learn

Semester I
Introduction to College Writing
In this course, we will cover the essential elements of writing clearly and effectively at the level of sentences, paragraphs, and entire arguments while focusing on coherence, cohesion, clarity, and concision.
Chemistry I
Students beginning premedical, biological and life sciences require an introduction to Chemistry that is pertinent to premedical, biological and life sciences.
General Biology I
This course is to balance knowledge, understanding and skills in our qualifications to enable candidates to become effective learners and to provide a solid foundation for their continuing educational journey.
Nutrition
This is a basic nutrition course which provides students who are aspiring to study medicine an appreciation and thorough understanding of the nature and role of the key macronutrients in foods as well as the fundamental chemical and biochemical properties of food components and ingredients.
Anatomy and Physiology I
This course will provide the students with an excellent understanding of medical terminology, the structure and functions of the human body and relationship of organs to one another.
Semester II
Chemistry II
Students beginning premedical, biological and life sciences require an introduction to Chemistry that is pertinent to premedical, biological and life sciences. Course outline includes topics from principles of chemistry, physical chemistry and quantitative skills and techniques for understanding and utilizing chemistry to practical life situations.
General Biology II
The course will balance knowledge, understanding and skills in our qualifications to enable candidates to become effective learners and to provide a solid foundation for their continuing educational journey.
Sociology
Students starting premedical sciences often requires sociological knowledge to be able to understand social phenomena and issues in the human society.
Anatomy and Physiology II
This course will provide the students with an excellent understanding of medical terminology, the structure and functions of the human body and relationship of organs to one another.
Semester III
Applied Mathematics Calculus
This course will review of limits and derivatives of exponential, logarithmic and rational functions.
Physics
Physics is designed to be equivalent to the first semester of an introductory college-level algebra- based physics course.
Basic Research Methodology
Research Methodology is a hands?on course designed to impart education in the foundational methods and techniques of academic research
Community Health
The aims of this module are to enable students to understand a variety of biological systems, processes and concepts, though only at introductory stage to bring students to terms with rigorous of undergraduate education.
Anatomy and Physiology III
This course will provide the students with an excellent understanding of medical terminology, the structure and functions of the human body and relationship of organs to one another.
