As front line workers, Personal Support Workers must develop a broad range of abilities beyond dexterity skills. They must provide not only for the comfort, safety and well-being of their clients, but also demonstrate sensitivity and respect for those in their care. You will master all necessary skills to achieve these objectives and more.

Upon completion of this course, you will demonstrate the ability to:
Work within the Personal Support Worker role in the community
Act responsibly and be accountable for your own actions while recognizing the boundaries of knowledge and skill
Participate as a member of the interprofessional care/service team
Provide client-centered and client-directed care that is based on ethical principles
Establish and maintain helping relationships with clients and their families
identify relevant client information using basic assessment and communication skills and report and document findings in accordance with the requirements of employer policies and procedures
promote and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for clients, their families, self and others including the implementation of infection prevention and control measures and emergency first aid procedures
Admissions Requirements
Grade 12 OSSD/Foreign Grade 12 Equivalent (Evalauted in Canada)/ 11 in Wonderlic SLE
