Overview
Develop in-depth knowledge of legal office procedures, legal terminology, court systems, legal record-keeping and the process of billing clients with the Certificate in Legal Office Administration. You’ll also learn about the preparation, filing and service of legal documents in the areas of wills and estates, family law, litigation, corporate law, conveyancing?and develop your skills with a three-week practicum.
You?ll gain skills in keyboarding, machine transcription (dicta typing),?legal?administrative procedures and business communications, preparing you for a career in law firms, notary offices and legal departments for companies, government agencies or ministries.
Further education
Graduates can choose to complete another year of studies at Douglas College to earn an Office Administration Diploma. Many graduates also go on to become legal assistants after taking additional training through other institutions.
