COURSE DESCRIPTION
Want to make an impactful difference in the lives of children and/or teens? Education Assistants are vital members of the educational team, supporting students with special and diverse learning needs from kindergarten through Grade 12 in Alberta schools. Under the direction of professional staff, Education Assistants provide personal care, behavioral and learning support. Education Assistants also facilitate inclusion, communication, and social interaction. The job of an Education Assistant is extremely rewarding.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the General Admission Requirements, applicants must prove high English Proficiency Requirement, the following program admission requirements apply:

High School Diploma with ELA 30-1, Math 30-1 or 30-2 with pass mark of at least 60%
And satisfactory interview with EWC representative.

For mature students who are above 18, Entrance examination (Scholastic Level Examination will be given)
And satisfactory interview with EWC representative.
Criminal Record review issued by Calgary Police Service. To be requested once an offer of admission has been made. COURSE
DURATION
The Pharmacy Assistant program consists of 32 full time weeks of classroom teaching and 8 weeks of in-house practicum. Students will be able to choose between Morning and Evening classes.

CREDENTIALS TYPE
Students will be given a diploma as an education credential for the completion of this course.

OPPORTUNITIES
There is a high demand for Education Assistants and graduates are employed by all of the school districts throughout Alberta. Education Assistants work in both elementary and secondary schools in a variety of settings, including regular classrooms, resource rooms, work experience sites, and life-skills training. Education Assistants often start on-call in the school districts and then apply to both full and part-time positions.
