PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to provide students with the essential knowledge of draping as a pattern-making technique. Students will be taught a variety of pattern shapes on a dress form, they will learn how to balance the completed drape on the form and fit a muslin to individual bodies. This course will take students? garment-making skills to the next level and teach unique techniques for creating a classic fitted dress.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
? Grade 12 graduate or mature student status (British Columbia 19 years or older)
? Meet minimum English language proficiency requirements.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this program the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to
List and define the terminology, tools and equipment associated with pattern draping and 3 dimensional design
Evaluate characteristics of fabric to recognize how drape and hand responds to line and silhouette
Examine the various techniques of manipulating fabric on a form to develop 3 dimensional designs
Analyze the design to identify creative elements, determine the draping technique required for the design and develop a draping plan
