Program Description
This new program was developed in consultation with industry experts and is geared to youth who have an interest in working in the construction and trades industry. It consists of three micro credentials; graduates will hold a Construction Ready Recognition of Achievement. Students will be prepared for entry-level jobs in the construction industry where demand is high and earning potential is good and have all required safety certifications.
Micro credential #1 ? Construction Jobsite Safety (42 hours in total)
Working at Heights ? 6 hours
Confined Spaces in Construction ? 6 hours
Emergency First Aid ? 8 hours
WHIMS- 2 hours
Jobsite Safety Practices ? 20 hours
Micro credential #2: Using Construction Tools (60 hours in total)
Hand Tool Usage ? 30 hours
Power Tool Usage ?30 hours
Micro credential #3: Perform Routine Trade Activities including Site Work (78 hours in total)
Temporary and Permanent Fencing ? 6 hours
Perform Traffic Control- 6 hours
Install/Handle Materials and Membranes- 6 hours
Prepare Site-6 hours
Perform Ground work-6 hours
Excavation and Shoring practices-12 hours

Certificate Requirements
Applicants must successfully complete the admissions interview and entrance assessments with a minimum score of 20/40 in the English Assessment and a minimum score of 20/40 in the Math Assessment (with a minimum composite score of 40/80).
Program Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, students will be equipped to:
Comply with health and safety practices and procedures in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.
Apply basic medical first aid as appropriate to emergency situations likely to be encountered in the workplace.
Select, maintain and safely use hand tools as well as portable and stationery power tools when performing basic constructions tasks.
Select a range of materials for appropriate application to building construction and renovation projects.
Contribute to the completion of building projects in accordance with industry standards and instructions from supervisors.

Potential career and industry options may include:
Graduates will be able to work as entry-level employees on residential or commercial construction jobsites. They will have essential safety certifications required for employment and basic skills that will allow them to contribute at a basic level to a variety of residential and commercial construction projects.
